In reply to Diane. Unsalted butter but salted will work too. Just reduce the salt in the recipe if you use salted butter.

I love these! I made them years ago & dug the recipe back out for fathers day because they were unforgettable! Should I used salted butter or unsalted butter?

In reply to Doreen Brown. Hi Doreen, yes the recipe says 1 egg AND 1 egg yolk. Also, the amount of caramels will depend on the size of your caramel squares. About 3/4 cup total was what mine turned out to be. I don't see any harm in a little extra caramel :)

The recipe says I large egg then it says 1 large egg yolk so are you using one and half eggs Also how many caramels are there in 6 oz
