I started to realize how much I enjoyed butterscotch as an adult. We only had those hard butterscotch candies around when we were little. But now I sure do enjoy the uniqueness of the taste of butterscotch (beyond the hard candies lol). How neat you got to grow up with this taste. Means someone in your family cooked some neat things it sounds like. Bet my Grandma would have loved this recipe of yours.
