Chocolate Truffles {Holiday Classics}
Chocolate truffles are decadent, creamy and indulgent. They are a homemade classic holiday treat, and you won’t be able to stop at one. Trust me!
Are you still scrambling to finish your holiday shopping?? Hurry up!!! No more time for monkey business. I’m one of those late shoppers too, because I didn’t start till this Friday and I finished today after two days of power shopping. I did fall short on one or two things that made me sad and wished I gave myself more time or thought of the ideas sooner but otherwise I did well. Got everyone crossed off the list and cookies sent. Now it’s time to relax and focus on the true meaning of the holiday season! For me that is enjoying family time, counting my blessings instead of sheep and reflecting on the past year.
As you assemble your last minute holiday cookie exchange boxes or your dessert spread, I am throwing in a last holiday classic recipe to the mix.
These chocolate truffles are very easy to whip up, take less than 20 minutes to prep and are very festive after decorating.
This recipe is very versatile and you can easily customize it to make it your own. I made these with a mix of my favorite chocolates; milk and dark chocolate. Added a little bourbon for some added kick and dressed them up with festive sprinkles and cocoa powder. You can use your favorite chocolate, flavor with whatever you like (rum, peppermint extract, orange liqueur) and dress up in holiday sprinkles, chopped nuts, crushed candy canes etc. You get the point, the sky is the limit here!
Regardless of your combination, you get a creamy, decadent and addicting dessert!
I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!! Enjoy your time with family and loved ones. I’ll be unplugged from the blog to spend time with my family and relax. I’ll see you all in a week with a new recipe.
Enjoy the chocolate truffles recipe!
Chocolate Truffles
Chocolate truffles are decadent, creamy and indulgent. They are a homemade classic holiday treat, and you won't be able to stop at one. Trust me!
Ingredients
- ΒΎ cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 10 ounces chocolate, chopped (I used a mix of milk chocolate and dark chocolate)
- 1 tablespoon bourbon (or more to taste; optional)
For Rolling:
- Sprinkles, cocoa powder, chopped nuts (almonds, walnuts, pistachio)
Instructions
- Place chopped chocolate into a medium bowl.
- Over medium heat, bring heavy cream and butter to boil in a small saucepan. As soon as it starts boiling, remove it from heat and pour over chocolate. Let the chocolate sit for 2-3 minutes without stirring. Then stir until smooth. Stir in bourbon if using.
- Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight (or at least 3 hours).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Using a spoon, scoop chocolate and roll into balls and place on baking sheet.
- Roll balls in sprinkles, cocoa powder, or chopped nuts. Refrigerate for 30 minutes before serving. Store refrigerated.

I just watched White Christmas last night. It is one of my favorites! I love the thought of counting blessings. I don’t have time to make truffles this year, but I am pinning it for the future because I have never made them, but they sound both easy and delicious.

You made some most gorgeous truffles, Zainab! Love, love these. The only thing I’m late on, is making my neighbors their sweet treats… thinking of making these tomorrow for them. (And, for me of course!)
Thanks Gloria! These are ao easy. You can get them started in the morning and chill for a few hours and ahud be ready by noon. Just try not to sample taste too many like I did and was short a whole friend’s package :0
These are so pretty, Zainab! Ha, I did not do any shopping this year. We aren’t big gift givers in my family. And Ken and I didn’t give each other gifts this year because we decided to pay to have a patio installed in our backyard. It’s our gift to each other! Hope you have a good week and a Merry Christmas, Zainab! π
Thanks Julie! That’s so sweet you two are giving yourself the gift of a relaxation space! Nothing beats that. I wish we didn’t have a gift family either. I don’t like shopping for people. Justin and I try to do experience gifts and that’s always a blast.
