These Cheddar Biscuits with Thyme and Sage Butter will melt in your mouth. This recipe is sponsored by Cabot Cheese.
Is it getting chilly out where you are? Our temperatures have been dropping which I am okay with as it means it’s soup season!! Lately, I’ve been serving warm biscuits with soup on these chilly nights. There is just something about being able to make biscuits from scratch. They have your home smelling so good. These cheddar biscuits are one of my favorite homemade biscuit recipes. It’s soft, full of my favorite cheddar cheese, and topped with herb-infused compound butter.
Not only are these Cheddar Biscuits perfect to serve any night for dinner, but they are also delicious with any holiday meal. These biscuits would be a perfect side to your holiday spread. Or even an easy breakfast. Add a little bacon or sausage with an egg for a quick and easy breakfast.
Of course, these cheddar biscuits are made with my favorite Cabot Creamery Seriously Sharp Cheddar Cheese. This cheese is a staple in my kitchen. From soups to cheeseboards to savory bread, I love cooking and baking with it. If you know Cabot Creamery, then you know (lucky you!). However, if you don’t, this is a favorite in my house for several reasons. First, the cheeses and dairy products from Cabot Creamery are amazing and award-winning. Second, Cabot Creamery Co-operative – a B Corp- is owned by farm families who love what they do. As a farmer’s daughter, I know this is important. Third, my dear husband only uses Cabot Cheese on his various pasta dishes. So I guess, I married into it and have no choice? Anyway, if you haven’t tried their products, please do. You won’t be disappointed.
Back to these Cheddar biscuits. Most people tell me they are nervous when it comes to baking biscuits from scratch. But I promise these are easy to bake with only a few instructions to follow. The best part about making biscuits from scratch is they are full of love and you can customize the flavors to your liking.
Let’s walk through how to make these biscuits. If you don’t need the step-by-step pictures, please scroll to the end for the recipe.
The first step is always preparing. Gather your ingredients. Line baking sheet with parchment paper and preheat the oven. We are using fresh herbs; thyme and sage to complement Thanksgiving dinner. However, feel free to use any fresh herbs you have in your fridge.
In a large bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients.
Cut in the butter into the dry ingredients and once the mixture resembles coarse crumbs you want to stir in your spices; herbs, cheese, garlic, and pepper before adding in the milk.
Combine all these until a soft dough forms.
That’s it. See? Super easy! Onto the prepared baking sheet, using a 1/4 cup, place the dough two inches apart.
Bake for about 18-20 minutes or until golden brown.
While your biscuits bake and cool, make the herb butter by whisking all the ingredients together. I used thyme and sage but feel free to use whatever herbs you have at home.
These Cheddar Cheese Biscuits are bested served warm with butter. If you happen to have any leftovers in an air-tight container at room temperature. I suggest reheating them before serving but you can snack on them at room temperature too.

Great Recipe! The only thing I would say, is that I used about a cup more of milk than the recipe called for.
